what area of the BX are you from?:

current locationBaychester

IG: @Rasheeda_Dae

Rasheeda and I were dance students at the Harlem School of the Arts when I noticed that she looked strangely familiar.  Come to find out, we also attended the same preschool in Parkchester!  Since we basically lived in the same hood, we always commuted together and we became good friends. Today, Rasheeda is making major moves and I'm so proud to know her!

Tell us about yourself:

I'm an alumna of Cardinal Spellman H.S. and Baruch College.  I’m a girl who loves to travel, be creative, and hang out. This is why I chose event production; I get to do all 3!  I also love the Soca scene!  #4 on my bucket list is to attended every Carnival there is around the world.

What are your fondest memories of growing up in the Bronx?

Summer days, spending time with friends hanging out trying to not get caught by the street lights, lol.  Hunting down a icee man as you walked the block.  I was addicted to icees... still am actually lmaoo.

Do you feel as though being from the Bronx has heavily influenced who you are today?

I think my overall life experiences shaped me more, but due to “borough beef” it did teach me to be quick with my tongue.  Lol

Who are your biggest inspirations?

Because my professional career has taken over my life, a lot of my inspirations aren’t necessarily Bronx natives.

  • Karen Civil- Media and marketing maven (career and success goals)

  • Yvonne McNair – Event Producer and current mentor

  • Issa Rae– Actress– She inspires me to be myself, awkward and all.

  • Bozoma St. John – CBO of Uber.  She is just a magical black woman.

What has been your greatest accomplishment to date?

Something that has already been done:

Having the opportunity to manage activations as Essence Music Festival!

Something that I will be doing this year:

Assisting in the stage performances at Essence Music Festival!

If you could, in what ways would you give back to your community?

I am actually on the board of a head-start program called La Peninsula.  We make sure that low income/homeless families in the South Bronx are able to give their children a proper education and solid foundation.  I came in to assist with events and fundraising, which allows us to have more community outreach and build stronger relationships with elected officials.

If someone were visiting the Bronx, where would you tell them to go?

Hip hop Boulevard. With the continuous rise of one the biggest cultural influences, I think it behooves everyone to see where it all started!
